A little about me…image

My name is Casey Gordon, and I’m the mother of two young boys.  I’ve lost 52 pounds in the last 4.5 months and am working on losing another 20 pounds before January 1, 2014.

Having gone through two pregnancies, I had added a fair bit of ‘cushion’ to my body (ahem, 72 pounds, to be exact) and had been searching for a way to get rid of it. I’ve always loved meal replacement shakes. From Medifast to Slimfast to Boost, I’ve tried them all. So when I decided to lose the pregnancy weight for good, I went searching for a shake. I love them because they are quick and easy, because I feel like I get more balanced nutrition, and because I don’t have to think about what I’m going to eat for that meal (meaning there is less of a chance of me making a poor decision!).

You see, I need to plan out my meals in order to be successful. If I’m starving and standing in front of an open kitchen cupboard contemplating what’s to eat, I will make a poor decision. Every time. For me, planning ahead and knowing what I will eat next is the key.

But it was always the cravings that made me ruin any diet. All of the other shakes I’ve tried never did anything about my cravings for junk food. When I heard that Shakeology can eliminate sugar cravings and make you feel full and satisfied, I honestly took it with a grain of salt. Many other shakes make these same claims and I had never found them to be true. But Shakeology really does! Some people say it takes up to a week or even a month to eliminate those sugar cravings but for me, they were gone from the very first day I drank my first shake. Months into my healthy journey, I’m still in awe that my cravings are gone!

Before Shakeology: I would have my whole day planned and eat my nutritious breakfast. Then about 10am would come and I’d feel that familiar rumble in my tummy, that emptiness that begs to be filled with a candy bar, a cookie, or some other quick and horribly unhealthy snack. If I make it through the morning without cracking, I would always face that same craving around 3pm. Maybe I’d make I through the first day, maybe even the second, but it would always break down at some point and often quit the diet completely soon after.

After Shakeology: Again, I’ll have my whole day planned but this time, I begin it with Shakeology. I drink a shake for breakfast, mixed with almond milk. You can mix in fruit, veggies, whatever you want, but I rarely mix in any other ingredients because I love the flavor all by itself! Chocolate is my favorite. I’ll glance at the clock and realize it’s 11am and I haven’t even had a snack yet because I wasn’t even hungry! I grab an apple or some other healthy snack and I’m off. Then lunch, and again, I’ll have to remind myself to eat an afternoon snack. I’ve been able to stick to my healthy diet for months and haven’t even felt one bit deprived. Occasionally, I will decide to treat myself to a little something sweet, like a donut or a cookie, I’ll take one bite and realize that I don’t even want it and the rest gets put in the garbage. That just amazes me since sweets have always been my downfall.

I feel wonderful too! I lost five pounds during my first week drinking Shakeology and I have so much more energy too.

Future: Now, my story isn’t finished yet. As I said, I’m down 52 pounds with 20 more to go. Shakeology is still the foundation of my diet every day, and I honestly think I’ll drink it forever because of the amazing nutritional content. 21 Day Fix, which is a clean eating portion control program, has allowed me to have balanced nutrition throughout the rest of the day. I’ve become a coach for Beachbody, and I am have been incorporating many of their programs into my daily life, including PiYo, a workout routine that is a fusion of pilates and yoga.
